カナダ連邦政府は2025年6月、全ての人にカナダの素晴らしさを実感してもらうことを目的に、カナダストロングパス(Canada Strong Pass)を発表しました。
カナダストロングパスがあれば、国立、州立、準州の博物館、史跡、公園への入場や、鉄道での無料または割引料金での利用が可能です。

そんなカナダストロングパスが使える期間は、当初2025年6月20日～9月2日と設定されていて、既に有効期間が過ぎていました。そんな中、2025年10月、パスの期間がホリデーシーズンと2026年夏に更新されることが発表されました。
これにより、2025年12月12日～2026年1月15日のホリデーシーズンにもカナダストロングパスが利用可能となります。さらに、その後2026年夏に向けて再度更新される予定です。（具体的な日付は不明）
ホリデーシーズンに帰省する学生の方には、18歳～24歳までの若者を対象にVIA鉄道の乗車券が25%割引となるため便利です。

パスというものの、パスの購入や登録は必要無く、物理的なパスでないので、注意してください。つまり、対象の施設を利用すればその場で無料入場または割引の特典を受けられます。
更新される予定のカナダストロングパスの詳細は、また後日公開される予定ですが、以前の対象は以下となっていました。
パークスカナダ：
カナダが管理する国立公園(national parks)、国立史跡(national historic sites)、国立海洋保護区(national marine conservation areas)への入場が無料、キャンプ料金は25%割引
※州立公園、市営公園、私立公園は対象外
※パークス・カナダの一部の施設は第三者によって運営されていて、その施設は対象外

すべての国立博物館(National museums)およびアブラハム平原博物館(Plains of Abraham Museum)：
17歳以下の子どもは入場無料。18～24歳までの若者は50%割引
※時間制の展覧会や、特別イベント、プログラム、体験に通常適用される料金は割引対象外（例：サマーキャンプ、団体見学）
※該当の施設利用時には、入場時に年齢確認を行う場合あり

カナダストロングパスは、カナダ在住者はもちろん、国外からの旅行者を問わず、すべての人が利用できます。カナダ連邦政府は「カナダの豊かな文化と自然を体験するための招待状」と呼んでいます。
パスは何度でも利用可能ですが、一部のアクティビティは予約が必要な場合があるため、詳細は参加施設のウェブサイトを確認してみてください。
最近はカナダからアメリカへ旅行する人が減っている状況ですが、この機会にカナダの魅力を再発見するのも良さそうです。カナダ在住の方もそうで無い方も、今冬のホリデー期間や来年夏のCanada Strong Passが有効な間に、お得に観光してみてください。
