037: 開通して27年。Skytrainを通して見る町の発展

VIDEO: SIDE-BY-SIDE SKYTRAIN TRIPS, 27 YEARS AGO AND TODAY

Here’s something you might not have expected looking at a 4 minute video clip of a Skytrain ride 27 years ago next to the same trip today: there are actually more trees now. More towers and development and humans, which the urbanist crowd will enjoy seeing, and with it more greenery.

和訳のポイント

here’s は here is の省略系ですね。結論を述べる時や、新しい事・面白い事を言う時、強調する為に使るスラングです。

2: urbanist crowd（アーバニストクラウド）

urbanist は前に紹介した urban -> 都会から出来た単語です。-ist を加えて何々の人・何々をする人となりますね。crowd は人混み・人達と訳せます。

-「彼はピアニストです。」
– And the crowd goes wild!!!
-（ホッケーでシュートを決めた瞬間）「ここで観客が盛り上がる！！！」

3: with it（ウィズイット）

with it はと一緒に・共に等と訳せます。レストランでよく would you like a drink with that? と聞かれますね。

-「とりあえずあれと一緒に持って行けば。」
– She left without saying good bye. And with that, my love was over.
-「さようならも言わずにいなくなった。それで僕の恋は終わった。」

おまけ

スカイトレイン：２７前と今

ビデオを見てみると、２７年間の間、ビルが増えた事が一目瞭然ですね。でも、緑も増えたところが実にバンクーバーらしい感じ、嬉しいですね。今、あちらこちらで補強作業や新路線の建設がされている Skytrain、27年間お疲れ様です。
